Hello everyone, I'm new around here.
I have a long story so to say to tell with a few questions.
I am a US citizen through birth. I married in Aug 2006 my girlfriend of 2 years in Romania. When we applied to the consulate for an immigrant visa 2 weeks later, we were refused for 'no proof of relationship'. I was 18 when this happened, and couldn't imagine staying for long periods of time in the US without my wife. What kind of relationship would that be.
I applied again through the INS in the states and the petition was approved, then I went through the long process with the NVC and such. The thing is, my boss understood my situation, and permitted me a leave of absence in February, and ever since then, I returned to Romania (I have dual citizenship) and have been here ever since with my wife. Whenever my mother in the states would receive forms, she would send them here and I would fill them out and send them on. Finally, I received
a paper from the consulate saying that they received my file from the NVC (actually, the letter was addressed to my wife). I had to get a few more documents such as her notarized birth certificate and such. I finally have all of the documents, and the final interview is on Monday at the consulate.
The thing is, I'm really scared about getting denied again, and have heard many stories (even one on this site) about the consulate in Bucharest Romania being corrupt. But I've also heard that by law they can't refuse you because it's union of family and they can't keep a family apart like that. One thing I'm scared about is that I only worked for 4 months in the States, and then as I said, I got a leave of absence. So I of course filed an Affidavit I-864, but also had my mother (who has 120k per year income) as a co-sponsor. Can they still refuse us?
If they do, what can I do? I'm thinking that if they refuse us, I might as well just move to Romania and live here to be with my wife.
I hope I never have anything to do with this immigrations stuff again.
Thanks in advance.
