Default Suspended for Another Employee's Misconduct

I was at work yesterday and a another employer put his hands on me. it all started when i told him him to quit standing around and get a broom and help clean up. he jump down off of the ramp he was standing on and said f@#k you !! i pointed my finger at him and said don't talk to me that way then he grab my arm and shoved me back and said f#@kyou bitch. i went to find the head supervisor and told him what was going on while i was taking to the supervisor this guy came over and started screaming in my face the super did not stop nor did he say anything to that guy. I look at the supervisor and said what are you going to do? he then took me in the office and started tellling me i need to calm down (i was not the one yelling ) the super then called down HR i had to give a statment in writting of the events and was told to go back to work so i did. they then put the other guy in a different area for about 30 mins and then moved him back over there with me. so i went to take my break and while in break room the super came and got me and told me that he is putting that guy over there for the rest of the day and asked me if i had a problem with it before i could even answer he if you do i can send you home. i just sat there in shock for a min and said as long as he stays away from me and does not say a word to me i will be ok. so i went back to work for about 10mins the super came back down and got he said he decided to send me home and the other guy too. before i could even get home the HR was calling my house so when i returned he call she said that they decided to suspend me until further notice. I did not call this man a name did not put my hands on him i am a female and weigh 125 the guy that grabbed is about 6'1 and 250 pounds. my questions are can i go out side of work and file assult charges? if i lose my job is there a suit that can be filed?
and just for the asking if my husband takes care of this man away from work can i still lose my job?

Yes, but you may wish to consider how your employer would react, and if you are considering possible litigation you may wish to consult a lawyer first.

That would depend upon why they terminated your employment.

Yes, and your husband could end up in jail.

I am just looking for any options that i may have if the employer does not handle this with the respect it deserves.
i did nothing to this guy and there were plenty of people who saw him grab hold of me. and i want justice done, i can not let him get by with putting his hands on me. as of 2:30 pm today the man who put his hands on me still has his job and they have no intenion of repremending him for his actions now that i clearly see they are not going to protect my right of a violence free work place i want to do all i can to prove my point that this was wrong. i was the one who was sent home foe 2 days he was returned to work before i was and i asked for a different shift they point blank told me if i dont want to work with this man i know where the door is. this is a big company we make soft drinks i dontknow if i can metion the name. and a couple of weeks ago we had a harrassment class and on the hand out it cleary states there is to be no name calling or violence in any manner. so not only was i assulted by this man i was slapped in the face by my employer by letting him get away with it.

if you could push me in the right direction on where to start it would be appreciated
