A long time ago in the state of Pennsylvania if you had medical bills that you could not pay off all in one shot, you were allowed to pay it back over a period of time (with no limits on how long you took to do it). As long as you paid a minimum of $10 per month and you paid it consistently without fail the provider was not allowed to report you for slow payment (and thus ruin your credit history rating) or to turn you over for debt collections.

Has this law changed? A provider here in PA is telling me that my son must pay a bill back in 6 months!

I tried to look the code up - but have found to my dismay that Pennsylvania is the ONLY state in the union where the actual statutes/acts are not posted online (or rather I should say not posted at any free internet site).

Who would I call to find out? Attorney General's office?
