My husband was on probation in Nevada and within the past month was legally transferred for probation supervision to the state of Pennsylvania. While waiting for the transfer he was driving a friend's vehicle without a driver's license. Right after he was approved for transfer to Pa. his friend received a notice stating that the car my husband was driving was in a hit and run accident. Subsequently he received a call from a Nevada detective accusing him of being the driver in the hit and run and threatening to go to probation officer, etc. My husband said if they sent a ticket he would pay it to which this detective replied that he would just send the ticket. (Side note: my husband claims he was not the driver in this accident-- and he says that the detective said the damage was so minor that someone could have done it and not known they did it) He just received this "ticket" which says traffic misdemeanor (a criminal offense) and has 3 violations listed including driving without a license and "duty to stop property damage only". There is no bail listed and ticket says must appear in court. So, does he tell his Pennsylvania probation officer and risk being detained (I assume that his admission to driving without a license would be enough to arrest)? He obviously can't go to the court date in Nevada without leaving the state (a violation). And not showing could result in a warrant. Question is what is the most likely course that this will take. Telling his probation officer is an obvious first step... but I guess I'm asking what is likely to happen.. i.e rearrest, extradition, travel permit to appear?
Thanks for taking the time to read and respond... I really appreciate it.
