    Default Background Check for Employment

    Hi,

    What an employer MUST have from a potential employee personal information ( Minimum Info ) to run the background check before hiring?

    For example:

    1- First and last names alone?
    2- Name and date of birth?
    3- Name, date of birth and SS#?

    I heard that date of birth is the crucial part of the process besides the name.

    It depends entirely on what they plan to check and whether they plan to do it themselves or have a third party do it.

    Not all background checks are created equal.

    Most employers use the information you provided above + driver's license No.. Unless you are applying for employment that requires TS/SCI clearances, you won't have to provide further information.
