My sister & brother-in-law are residents of Oregon. My sister obtained medical services, using her insurance card provided by her husband's employment, listing only her name as the responsible party. Due to her problems with various substances, she has not paid these bills, nor many others. The medical providers are suing my brother-in-law, citing the use of his insurance as the reason he is responsible. Any remedy for him? Should he go ahead and pay it, or go to small claims and fight it, based on the fact he did not incur the debt?
My sister owes the debt, and she needs to pay it, but they have always kept their finances separate, probably because of her eccentric approach to mature money management. I am just starting to help her straighten out these matters, so I fully intend to respond to the people she owes money to. Any insight on this matter would be appreciated...
