You mean, he was arrested in Ohio for his California probation violation?
yes he was
his probation officer came by his apartment to check on him and his room mate told him where he had gone, so they put out arrest warrants.
he will be transferred to California since he has done nothing illegal in Ohio. His crime is a California crime and has to be heard in California courts. The warrants he was arrested on were (or should be anyway) California warrants.
Ohio arrested him merely because California had issued the warrants. They will hold him for extradition. If California chooses not to extradite, Ohio will release him but he will still have a warrant outstanding for his arrest.
about how long does it usually take to find out if he'll be extradited or transfered?
not sure where to find that info but if memory serves me, the last time I had heard of extradition proceedings, the holding state had 30 days to effect the transfer. not sure if it is applicable to these states.
after that, the holding state, if no proceedings were initiated, would simply release the person.
A funeral would be a valid reason to leave for a short time his problem is he apparently failed to ask or tell his P.O. about this. Hence the violation
