Had a Rooms to Go credit card. I had went back to school and then had children. Huge financial strain, and got behind on the payments (along with a couple medical bills). Paid what we could, when we could, but eventually defaulted. I have since returned to school again and will finish December 2007.

Rooms to go charged it off and sold it to someone named LVNV Funding. Occassional letters from this collection agency continued to accumulate all manner of fees, to the point where 2500 or so has turned into almost 5000.

I can't find a record, but I believe the last payment was made late 04. We have recently received a letter from an in-state law firm requesting payment and saying we had 30 days to respond.

As we have ignored the collection agency, should we ignore the law firm or contact them? We may be able to make monthly payments or pay a big chunk at tax refund time. The Statute of Limitations in SC is 3 years I believe. We don't have any real estate.

What to do?
