I was recently ticketed in Oklahoma for passing a car on the shoulder of a two lane road with shoulders. The vehicle I was passing was making a left hand turn and I passed on a paved shoulder. The law I tried looking up seemed a bit unclear. The ticketing officer said that it was illegal to cross the solid white line seperating the lane from the shoulder. Is this right? I just moved to Oklahoma from Texas and as far as I know this is legal in Texas. At least I have been doing it for many years anyhow. Also if this is a valid ticket, does the once a year ticket dismissal you can get by taking defensive driving apply to once a year in any state or is it once a year in that particular state? The reason I asked is that I took DD about 5 or 6 months ago in Texas and I'm not sure if I'm aloud to take it again here in Oklahoma. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
