I just received a speeding ticket on my motorcycle, cited under WA 46.61.400, the basic speed law. The officer was a member of the Washington state patrol (WSP).
I plan on fighting it, and when I was looking over the ticket, I noticed that the location that the infraction occurred at was inconsistent. In the location field, there's a Location, Milepost, and City/County field. The Location and milepost are both accurate, but the city/county is wrong. The officer wrote down Snohomish county, while the infraction and traffic stop occurred in King county. The infraction did admittedly occur within about 2 miles of the actual county line, but at no time did we enter Snohomish county.
Is this issue something that is worth pursuing, or is this minor and the judge will just ignore it? I plan on going through the whole discovery process or possibly just getting an attorney, but I'm interested if this kind of inaccuracy is important. I also wonder if this wouldn't change the actual court in which my case was heard?
