Question My Father's Trying To Sue Over A Shoplifting Detention

yesterday i was stopped for shoplifting in a LA, california area urban outfitters. i denied everything and my parents picked me up. that was my second time being caught for stealing at an urban. but this time they didn't put my name in the computer so the clerks were unaware of my past. I told my parents that i had bought it from another urban outfitters earlier that day. but the garment had obvious damage. they were just gonna let me go but now my dad is going to court with the regional manage to prove my innocence. he thinks its a race issue but its not. they were mean to me at all. but my father overreacted and is going to sue them with money my family doesn't have. and urban said if we lose (which we will cuz i did it and all signs point to me) they'll countersue for something about the character of the company. it was a $18 dress from the bargin bin.

i dont think confessing is an option anymore.
papers haven't been served yet. wut can i do?

Have you considered telling your father the truth?

Aaron is right because once he spends the money to sue Urban outfitter will bring out the video and whatever other evidence they have to prove your guilt. furthermore if they have not already pressed charges whats to stop them from pressing once they are sued? I would expect that they would also find out its your second go around and the fines etc increase including possible jail time. Is worth all that> Just follow Aaron's advice

If you do not tell your dad now the truth and that you have been caught before... then you and your family is in for a world of hurt. Better to take what ever you get now for telling the truth then what you and your family will get if you don't

It's hard to tell him now but imagine that times a thousand - that would be how hard it will be if you let this go all the way to court and he finds out there that you have been lying to him. *shudder* He won't be as mad as you think and you will feel very relieved.
