My children's father is illegal and we aren't married. When I have been applying for medicaid I notate that my son's father cannot provide evidence of his legal status. He doesn't work and is at home all the time with his kids and isn't eligible to work. We are trying to work on getting married and getting him legal but I don't want him working or doing anything with someone else's social security #. That is an absurd request to me that we provide a social security # that is false and possibly stolen.
My issue:
I am constantly called in for child support hearings. I have been told by many case workers that I am married and that my children's father does have a social security number. Which isn't correct.
I don't receive food stamps or anything like that, however I do receive medicaid. Even though I report him as living with me they say I have to go court and provide a social security #, she said it was non-compliance to not provide a social security #. I don't think this is right and I think this case worker is giving me a hard time. Not only that they told me I am married and she than showed me the name of someone who isn't him and some other woman's name which doesn't match my name. This is ridiculous and they tell me they can only schedule random days which means I have a hard time taking off work. If I do than I'm not getting paid and I'm a student on top of that. He won't go with me to the office, he's afraid of deportation.
Lastly he didn't sign the youngest baby birth certificate because we were told by the nurse that he has to provide a social security #. He is frustrated about not being on the birth certificate and we need to work on his immigration status. I cannot afford to lose my medical because I have asthma and colitis, I am desperate to figure out what to do but I think that by being home with the children and caring for them that should be sufficient child support. What do I do?
I also want to add that because he is illegal he doesn't have medical insurance, which means when he goes to the doctor I have to pay cash. He doesn't receive any public assistance because he isn't eligible.
