My son inherited approx $10,000 from his grandmother 4 yrs ago with a stipulation. He was 17 at the time of her death. She stated the money must go to college expenses. Well, my son decided he doesn't want to go to college. His uncle told us that if he does not go to college he will get the money when he turns 21. He will be 21 next week.
I contacted his aunt who is executor of the estate giving address info etc. (This is my ex's family and my son does not see them..his choice). She responded back that the money will not automatically go to him when he turns 21. She said her mother intended for my son to use it for college and she will follow that to the end. I told her he has no intentions of going to college as much as I want him too...he will not. She emailed back that he will not get the money then!!
I have not seen the will. His grandmother died in OK and his aunt, the executor lives in CT.
What does my son do now??
His uncle said he will get the money at 21 if he doesn't go to college, yet his aunt says it is only for college!
