Let's say you are pulled over for a general traffic stop, something like speeding or not using a turn signal, something simple.
How far back do the police warrant checks go? And do they just run that state or all 50?
I have a clean driving record, 15 yrs+ no tickets, no nothing. But, 24 years ago, when I still young and stupid, I did get in a bit of trouble. I went into someones house (that I knew) and took some blank checks. Then I wrote them out to another person and they cashed them and gave me the money. I do know a friend found out I did this and turned me into the police, but I moved in the middle of all this, so was never arrested. I can't really remember that far back on specific details, but I don't believe the total of all the checks together was over $500. My parents recently went ot the city police and checked, there were no warrants & no records of anything. They also went to the county sheriffs, and the same answer, no warrants, no records, nothing came up in their systems. They were told that 20 years ago the county switched computer systems and it may not have been worth while inputing. All this occured in Virginia 24 years ago. Is it possible that this has run its course and is gone for good?
I have a family now and just don't want to be pulled over for maybe not using a turn signal, and they arrest me on something from 24 years ago.
