    Default Old Utility Debt

    Hi there,
I was just contacted by a collection agency, advising me I owed $336 for an old telephone bill from 1998. When I moved I filled out a 'change of address' form at the USPS. I have received nothing from the telephone company regarding this bill in the last 10 years. Is this normal? Isn't there a statue of limitations? Maybe this company isn't legitament. Not sure what to do. I have an immaculate credit report and feel this might ruin my score. How do I find out if this is legite?

    Thanks

It may be a junk debt buyer trying to collect on an expired debt. But the statute of limitatiosn is different in each state.
