Smile Green Card Holder Marrying F1 Holder

My partner and I moved to the US 2 years ago. I have a green card and he is studying and staying here with an F1 visa. We have been together for over 5 years and I would really love to get married, but I am not sure which is better; Either get married now and he has to wait to get a green card, which I believe is about a 5 year wait or get married in 3 years after I am a citizen. What if we were to get married now, would it be more difficult for me to obtain citizenship and can he still apply for the green card after I become a citizen?

What would you recommend? Thank you

I doubt that the marriage would affect your qualification for citizenship. However....

As a general rule, it is better for your partner to wait until you become a naturalized citizen before applying for a Green Card, and for your partner to then petition as your "immediate relative".
