Default Repaying Tuition Payd by an Employer

I signed a tuition reimbursement contract stating that I would pay my employer back for any training I received over the course of 18 months prior to my resignation. The document states that I need to pay them the amount minus any vacation I am owed, but, doesn't say how- can they do anything legally as long as I am making payments to them? I am in Illinois.

They are not obligated to accept installments if that's what you mean.
