We have developed a strong case proving someone has waged a campaign of harassment against my family, including my 11 year old daughter. The harassment took the form of verbal threats, physical intimidation, filing of frivilous complaints against us with the Code Enforcement Officer of the town we live in, and most recently escalated to this person allowing, in his presence, to have a third party threaten another member of my family, who was visiting us.
This course of conduct has been going on for about 16 to 18 months.
Do I have the right to sue him in civil court for the emotional damage he has caused my family. My young daughter had to go to her doctor because of symptoms she exhibited that her doctor said, on paper, are strictly stress related. My wife and I are virtual prisoners in our house, (as is my daughter), afraid to even leave the house if he is in the neighborhood.
The DA's office said that although they don't think his actions rise to the criminal level, their opinion is that there is a strong case for harassment, after they saw all the documentation.
