    Default J1 Status Change

    I've had an aupair for a year now and she would like to stay and we would like to keep her. I see all of her friends families switching to J1 student visas, they pay for the girls' education AND keep them on
    'helping" with the kids.

    I realize she is able to stay with the AuPair program for 2 years, but then she can't go to school full time.

    How can we keep her, afford to send her to school, and do it all legally. There has to be a way somewhere!

    I suspect she has a two-year foreign residency requirement, as is often the case with J1 visas, which requires that she reside outside of the United States at the conclusion of her visa. Is that the case?
