Hey everyone,
I was cited with "receiving stolen property" when I was 15 years old when I received a hood ornament (10 dollars basically) that a neighborhood kid took off someone's car. I later returned it to the police when my parents discovered it in my closet, but the police still made me do a written statement and they made me do some community service. I later took this up with the base commander (I live on a military base) and he reduced my hours by half. I took this for granted by the way. Its been a couple years now, AND I'm Still pissed off with them because they charged me for being honest. I just got an appointment with a JAG officer to process for an expungement. I want this offense off of my records so I won't be slam dunked on background checks for something like this.
Questions
What is an expungement? What will it do when I receive one?
Who is eligible?
Will my case be a easy to get an expungement? Is it hard?
And one last question... how are juvenile records even seen by background checks? Isn't that illegal? I want to get a security clearance through the federal government thats why I need this wiped.
I hate this world.
