Default Criminal Record and Application to Dental School

Need help! I am 28 and applying to dental school. I received a DWI when I was 17 years old in 1996. My question is whether or not I can have this expunged/sealed/non-disclosed. I am unsure as to if I received DA. Below is a copy of the public record on file from the txdps. Sequence A reflects the disposition as 310 (convicted); however, Sequence B reflects 331 (probation discharge)...what is the difference between the two sequences and dispositions? Which one is the final result? I received 1 yr probation and was ordered to a awareness class along with some community service...all were satisfactorily completed. Also, I got caught trying to steal a hat with some friends when I was about 13 years old. The only time that incident has come up was when applying for an apartment after college in 2002. I believe it showed as a theft under $50 on whatever report they pulled. I am guessing this is not reflected in the dps report pulled because it was a lower level misdemeanor. Will the theft reflect on a criminal history or background check done by the dental schools? If so, can I have this expunged/sealed/nondisclosed as well? Please review my report and situation...any advice is greatly greatly appreciated.

Not sure if this is pertinent to the minor theft but I dont even remember going to juvenile court or having any kind of punishment. I was taken in by security and released to my parents. Can the incident be reflected if I never went to court for the violation?

Texas permits expunction or sealing only if there was a deferment. If you were convicted, you have to obtain a pardon before you would qualify.

If there was no involvement of the courts or police, there would be no public record of the juvenile matter.

Thanks for replying Aaron. From viewing my public record, can you tell me if I was convicted or was it deferred after my probation? I am confused since there are two sequences and I have no idea as to why or what that means.

To me, "FINAL PLEADING G ( GUILTY )" suggests conviction upon entry of your guilty plea. I'm not a Texas lawyer; you may wish to consult one.

Can you tell me why there are two sequences, two court dispositions and final pleadings and which one to go by?

I suggest you try asking the court or consult a Texas lawyer.
