We hired a contractor to expand our business. This included the purchase and erection of a 27,000 sq ft. steel building. We gave the contractor $105,000 dollar down payment for the building along with other monies for prep work to be done. The contract said that he would have the building here by August 1 and the erection of the building would be started. We have had a falling out with our contractor and have found out the building is still at least 8 weeks away from being on site. We are facing imminent bankruptcy due to the 2 month delay. Is there anything we can do to at least recoup the $150,000 already paid to the contractor? He did about $30,000 worth of prep work according to our new contractor.
