I just received a letter from a collection agency concerning a hospital bill from over three years ago. I do not remember ever receiving a bill from the hospital for the $60 they say I owe them. I received no statement from them for that amount. However, when I went back and looked through my bank statements I did pay three other bills for the hospital visit for different amounts. One check was to the hospital for less than the $60.

My thinking is, if all these other bills got to my address and I paid them then why wouldn't this $60 not have been paid? It seems odd to have this bill pop up over three years later.

Should I just pay this bill and forget about it, or has the statue of limitations run out? Should I send them a letter disputing this bill? I don't want to just roll over and send them the money if I don't owe this to them.
