Default Can my employer force me to repay H1B visa costs if I quit?

My employer forced me to sign a letter stating I would repay the costs for the H1B visa if I quit the company when they got my visa renewed for another 3 years. I want to quit, but I am afraid they will make me pay the $2000+ if I do. Do thye actually have any legal right to make me repay the visa fees?

    Thanks!

Default Contractual Agreement to Repay Visa Fees

Their legal basis is the contract you signed to repay the fees.

Such agreements may be restricted, depending upon where you live, by state employment laws.
