Default Auto insurance for high risk teenager

    Hello

I'm about to pull my hair out on this, if someone could give some suggestions I'd be more than greatful. The story is as follows:

I am 18 years old, currently attending college out of state. My father and I live alone, and we each have a car; his is leased, mine is owned. After my first year of auto insurance being at $1500 (per 6 month) for the two of us and the two cars, I received 5 tickets and was in 2 accidents. Of the 5 tickets, I only accumulated 2 points on my record. However, my insurance has skyrocketed. It is at $3400 (per 6 month) now, and we simply cannot pay that. I've looked all over for cheaper insurance options, but can't find any. I don't care much about driving now, it's just that because I am a licensed driver in the house, I MUST pay insurance (law?). I've been told the option of changing address and thus dropping any auto insurance, but I'm not too fond of that. If anyone could offer some ideas that would be great. Thanks so much.

    Default Car Insurance

If you do not wish to drive, you can explore the option of being an excluded driver on your father's policy. That would mean that if you drove the car you would effectively be an uninsured driver, and the insurance company wouldn't pay for the damages. This is something you should only do if, in fact, you won't be driving. If you were to do this, you would probably want to consider selling your own car, pending such time as you again obtain insurance coverage.
