I sell clothing online via my website. A few months back I purchased 2 vintage items from a woman and they were delivered to me. When I put them on my site one item was purchased by a previous customer. When she received the item she informed me that she had bought the items already from the person who sold them to me, and she claimed she is the legal owner of both pieces. I contacted the person I bought the items from and she admitted the sale, but said she gave the woman a full refund. Apparently the items were damaged by a cleaner and she did not wish to sell them at that time. The buyer was very angry and abusive and the seller refused to do business with her again.
The buyer wants to purchase the second item from me, but has asked that I give her the name and address of the seller... she has told me she is seeking legal action against the original seller. Is this person the owner? Can she take the second item from me? What is my liability here?
