Default Possession of Drug Paraphernalia in Texas

A few days ago my friends and i were caught and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia which is a class c misdemeanor in Texas.
The cop that wrote the citation said that it was equivalent to a traffic ticket, but i find that hard to believe. This is my first offense im 16 and my parents don't know yet and i would really prefer if they didn't, so i have a couple of questions.

Is there anyway i can hire a lawyer and have him represent me without my parents knowing? so my parents wouldn't have to go to court or even find out. Will this be on my record forever? Finally, what type of punishment/fines will i most likely receive since this is my first offense.

Please respond anything will be of great help

You're charged in juvenile court, right? They may require that your parents appear with you.
