What I meant was - In general, bigger stores tend to take this to Court, because they have Loss Prevention / Asset Protection Depts that are solely appointed for this purpose. If you didn't receive a Court letter, do NOT worry about it. May be, this was your lucky break. So far from what I've read and known, if the store's intention was to call the Police, they would've done it right away or atleast in the next couple of weeks you would've received a summon or something from the Police or the Court. May be in your case, the amount in question was very petty -- may be, they used their discretion not to notify the Police. It is highly unlikely that they will notify now. So, if I were you I wouldn't worry until some other notification is sent.Quoting Jeanine05
