Default Medical Coverage After A Workers Comp Settlement in California

    Hi there,

I had a knee injury more than a year ago, underwent a light surgery. still am in pain every now and then. My surgeon prognosed another surgery with MRIs and such within then next 10 years. my Workers comp offered me a settlement for 4000 dollarsm which hardly covers MRI, let alone surgery expenses and physical therapy. My employers is pressing very hard to proceed with the settlement.
My question is - if I take this money, and close the case, and then I need to have that other surgery done, will my regular insurance cover it? I have Blue Cross of CA, and it is very very bad plan. If no, what should I do?
    Thanks!
    Masha

You should not expect that your regular health insurance will cover treatment for the work-related injury. Check your policy, as it is possible that work-related injuries are expressly excluded from coverage.
