Default Inattentive Driving Ticket with a CDL License

Here's the scope, I hold a class A drivers lic. out of Florida. Last August I was picked up in Wisconson (an off duty cop called me in saying I had swayed) the office that stopped me, stopped me 20 miles down the road and asked me what I was doing back at whatever mile marker the other cop saw me at. I had no idea what he was talking about, he tried to get me to say I was on the phone or reaching for the map. He explained that he got called by the other cop. He ended up writing me up for inattentive driving (which is not a criminal offense just a $ penelty) and I paid my $181.00 right there and was on my merry way. Well FL put it on my lic as careless or improper driving (they don't have inattentative driving there so they pick what ever they think is the closes charge.) which If I'm not wrong that is a crimal offense.
That was all fine it didn't stop me from getting a job. Well I started lookin for a new job and every where I was appling was telling me the insurance company would not take me on. so I call FL. DMV and she told me my CDL lic had been suspeded for 60 days( I could still drive a car or my bike, just not a truck) back in march, and I asked her why and she said I had 3 moving violations on my record 1 being a speeding ticket from 2 yrs ago, 1 being careless or improper driving and the 3rd being careless driving. What Wisconson had done was sent Fl the docket #, then a month later sent the ticket itself, so FL put it in there twice. I had to pay them $90.00 yesterday to get them to reinstate my lic, but they said the suspension will show on my record for 7 years. This mistake made by them (FL DMV)is now going to haunt me for 7 yrs. They are taking one of the duplicate offenses off. Does any one know if careless or improper driving are crimainal offenses? Or any idea how to get the suspension off there. I've been on OTR driver for 18 years and have never had a problem with my lic.Any advice would be greatly appriciated. Thanks in advance.

This is why you never need to pay a ticket without being 100% sure how it will be treated by the DMV. Usually it takes an attorney to get something like this straighted out. Careless driving is not one of the violations that should get you CDL suspended so they are wrong all the way around. I would go the attorney route because it could effect your personal insurance and the next suspension is one year.
