Default Can You Pay A Judgment By Giving Credit On A Debt

In a nutshell, I’m president of a homeowner’s association in California and we were sued in small claims by one of the homeowners. He won a judgment of $1500, but owes back fees of $2000. If we credit his account 1500 and bring him current and cut a check for 500, will this satisfy the judgment?

    Default Outstanding Debt

If you want to try something like that, get the homeowner to agree to it in writing, and make sure that a satisfaction of judgment is filed after payment is complete.
