Hello - I noticed some other posts that are similar - but different too - so I am posting my issue. I do have a lawyer - but he is out of town and I have not heard back from him yet. Basically - I was pulled over last year and cited for not having insurance (I did - but did not have proof of insurance) - the officer went a little crazy on me because I took longer than I should have to pull over and he cited me with attempting to evade as well (does pulling to the corner - a mere 50 feet from when I noticed him count?). Anyway - I hired a lawyer - we went to court and worked everything out. I paid my fines (I am in IL) - and here is where it got strange - it took nearly three months for the payments to clear the bank, even with my repeated follow-up calls. In the mean time and unknown to me - there was a bench warrant issued for failure to pay the fines and my license was suspended as well. I only found this out when I went to renew my license! I contacted my attorney - I faxed over my bank statements showing the cleared transactions and he was to talk to the local prosecutor and attempt to get it cleared up. Well - I called today (I leave tomorrow) and my attorney went out of town and I have no idea where this all stands! So - my question - if he was unable to get this cleared up for me - can I still travel? This is a very expensive family vacation - I would hate to not even make it out of the airport!
