Default Harboring A Runaway In Canada

    Hi,

I am 16 and live in Ontario, Canada. My girlfriend will be 16 next month and lives in North Carolina. If she left after her 16th birthday, and came to live with me, could I be charged with harboring a runaway? What if I told her family where she was?

We have researched alot into emancipation, immigration, visas, and marriage. If she comes here, and we are able to get married (I'm aware this sounds farfetched without her parents' consent but for the sake of simplicity I'm assumming we already have the consent.) would she still be classified as a runaway? Would her parents still have the rights to tell her where she can and cannot live? Would she be considered legal to live in Canada permanently?

    Thanks a ton!

A minor doesn't have any right to run away from home, nor does she (a U.S. citizen) have any automatic right to live in Canada. If she's found, she will likely be detained for deportation back to the United States.
