Default Can I Turn Off The Utilities If My Roommate Won't Pay?

    I'm in GA

Roommate and I both signed the lease. Verbal agreement to share the utilities.

She refuses to pay the power bill which is in my name due to her poor credit.

I want to turn the utilities off until shes pays. Any legal problem with that ?

    thanks

I suspect your roommate will have a big problem with that. It won't be much fun for you to live without power, either. But I doubt she has any legal basis to compel you to have the account in your name - she could (in theory) get the power turned back on in her name.

What will you do if she gets mad and moves out, sticking you with the entire rent bill?
