Default Age of Consent in Florida

Ok, a friend of mine is 23 and his girlfriend is 17, she lives in Florida. He doesn'y. They are having a long distance relationship and he is going to go see her soon. Can he get in trouble for going to see her, if he is not a resident of Florida? They have not done anything with each other, only, "roleplayed" online about stuff like that, but in their chats, which I've looked at, since he lives with me, they talk about stuff they are going to do to each other, when she turns 18. Since the Florida, dating law, from what I've heard is that a 17 year old can date anyone up to 24, is that true? She is about 4 months from being 18

For age of consent issues, please read this.

For non-sexual social activities, adults can socialize with children. The minor's parents may object, and they can legally restrict their children's social activities.

Ok, so you are saying that, he doesn't have to worry about the cops or nothing in Florida locking him up if he is say, hugging or kissing his girl or anything like that? She had told him that the age of dating or consent or whatnot is 17-24. But he is not a resident of Florida. Would he still be bound by the laws of the commonwealth(Virginia), which states that if an adult is seen doing anything of what they might call "questionable behavour" such as kissing or hugging anyone that is noticably underage, then the two individuals involved can be asked for identification and can be questioned, not sure if that is exact but I'm pretty sure it's close to that. Or once he sets foot in Florida he has to abide by the Florida state rules?

I am saying nothing more than what I actually said.

Certainly, as should go without saying, your actions when in Florida are governed by Florida law.

Does things like pictures being sent on the internet count as sexual activities? I've actaully, accidentally walked in on him with one of his webcam sessions with her. I've watched the tv show, "To catch a predator" and it had said that minors don't have the right to consent in Florida, but what is considered a minor in Florida? She has told him that if he was 27 she would be considered a minor but since he is 23 he is not. Is that true?

So, since a friend of mine is 23 and his girlfriend is 17, he doesn't have to worry about Chris Hansen from "NBC: To catch a predator" coming up to him and being like "Why don't you have a seat over here?" I've heard that they cut people who are close to being 18 some slack when it comes to that. His girlfriend turns 18 in like october.

    (The state is Florida)

No one here is going to give you their blessing while you have sexual relations with a minor. Aaron was very clear on that

Ok, now, first off this isn't about me. It's about a friend of mine. Number 2 they both agreed that they would wait until she was 18 to have sex with him. I was merely asking for him because he is too afraid to ask in this forum himself. According to some forums on here it states that the ages are 16-23. But in the avert.org and about.com it states that the age is 18 but that was in 2001, has that law been changed or not? Does that mean that 17-23 is also legal or no? I don't want to have to bail him out of jail. She told him that since she is 17 and he is 23 she is not considered a minor but if he was 27 she would be considered a minor, is that true or not?
