Default Colorado Officer Refused To Show Driver The Radar

Ok , i was on my motorcycle , just turned into Diagonal highway.
the speed there is 45 and then changes to 55.

i accelerated a bit and then i let go. i saw a cop on the side. but i was sure i'm fine because i wasnt speeding. when i approached his car he put the lights on.

So i pulled over. he said i did 57 on a 45. i really dont think i did. and even if i was over 45 it was probably not more then 1-2 seconds.

So after he finished to write me the ticket , i asked him "can i see the reading on the radar" so he was rude about it. laughed at me and he said "are you trained to operate a radar detector" i Said no . so he said well then i cannot show it to you. then i asked "was it calibrated ? " he said they are calibrated every year. and then he said, i dont need to give you any information.

Do i have a case to flight this ? i mean i asked for a proof and he didnt give me.

besides that i didnt have proof om insurance on me , i do have insurance.
when i asked about seeing the speed on the radar, he said first go and show proof of insurance to the court.
then i said , but that will be to late for evidence i need NOW. i need to see the radar. but i got the same answer as before.

i really feel this is not right. i got pulled over in the past for speeding. when i was speeding. but this time i feel that i was just easy target got him.

    thanks Dan

There is no requirement in any state that the officer show you the radar. In Colorado you cannot subpoena the radar records and the officer's oral testimony is sufficient.

so basically he can say whatever he wants . or just lie all day long and that is it ?
he could have said 65 or 75 ...sounds wrong to me that there is no way to monitor or control a bad cop.

Showing you the radar gun would be totally irrelevant to anything. Even if you saw a speed "locked in", you have no idea WHEN that speed was locked in. It could have been your car or any car earlier that day. In fact, it could have been a airplane. So, if a cop is out to GET you, you're as good as got -- whether he/she shows you the radar or not.

And let's face it, you WERE speeding -- albeit for only a few seconds. But, if you think this officer's conduct is questionable, file a complaint with his office. That's about the only way "to monitor or control a bad cop".

    Good luck,
    Barry

yes i know that if he was showing me speed, i could never tell if it was me or not. but it's still better then nothing.

and about me speeding, i really doubt i was. i went there again yesterday
and there is just no way i could be at that speed at that street.
the distance between the turn i did , to his trap is just too short.

thanks for the info, seems like i cannot do anything here
