Unhappy Shoplifting from Kohls in Round Rock, Texas

wow, im glad i found this site.

just like 50% of everyone in this forum, i got caught shoplifting at kohls in texas. i signed the civil demand letter and alla that other stuff saying i wont go back to kohls etc etc. they took down my info & all of that too. i'm 18. so my parents weren't notified but i KNOW what i did was wrong, after spending the whole night in jail wanting to smack myself a over a kajillion times for being so stupid --- SO i went through about all of the "stealing from Kohls" threads on here and i'm mad that i don't see why i stole prolly the same amount as most these people (it totaled up to $118) BUT, cops were notified (most people got to just sign the papers and deal with the fees)

it's a class b misdemeanor -- but i dont think its fair how half these other people didnt have to go spend the night in jail. but lifes not fair and "you do the crime, you do the time" lol. --- my question is what do i do?

i have court in august and i'm pleading guilty and im just gonna use a court appointed attorney. btw, this is my first offense. i honestly dont want this on my record. my parents don't know about it because i'm hella ashamed and you know im an adult now so i gotta handle my business. *sigh. from what i read i'll prolly get community service hours/probation? and it DOES go on my record??

    anyways, thanks a lot

    PROBABLY...not 'prolly'.

And in answer to your question, yes, if you are convicted (and pleading guilty guarantees that you will be) it will go on your record.

You should consult with a Criminal defense Attorney. Many will offer a free office visit. talk to him/her about diversion programs. If offerd and if you qualify this can help keep a conviction off your record

Make sure you understand the conditions behind "free" office visit.
