hi, I currently work in california for a major dept store...the loss prevention office accused me of stealing money from the registers after I closed them when we were closing the store. They claimed that 9 times that I closed the registers 100 dollars had been short. anwyays its not true I kept explaining that to them the whole three hours they were trying to get it out of me....they made me write my statement told me I was to be suspended untill human resources contacted me and met with me....i waited a week the hr lady met with me said more questions need to be asked so she was conducting a further investigation meanwhile I am just upset and panicky because I was suspended without pay and i have major bills to keep up with etc. she contacts me a week later and tells me that after her investigation shes decided shes bringing me back to work ....she pays me for the time i was suspended and im back at work feeling uncomfortable because i see loss prevention people all the time ...she didn't give me any explanation as to what the real reason was to those shortages...accept I guess that they know it was not me...but I didn't get an apology making me think that loss prevention still believes I am a thief...I see them more often now than i used to so I can't tell if they are watching me or just doing their job I have felt compelled to explain to all the associates why i was gone for 2 weeks so that rumors don't start and I am I am frustrated now because I am left in the dark and of course my bill payments are going to be late should I sue for this? under what ground could I sue...I feel like they should acknowledge they made a mistake and apologize but should i sue or just demand an apology that I shouldn't have to ask for!????
