I was with my friend who shoplifted from Kohl's and was prosecuted, I did nothing and was not aware of what was going on and the cops told me I was fine and free to go, but I still had to sign an agreement to not go back to that store which I did. One month later I get a letter in the mail from Kohl's saying "you took merchandise from Kohl's without paying" and "you owe $225" I called the number the letter told me to call and I explained that I had never stolen from kohl's and the lady said I still had to pay the civil relief. Can they do this even though the cops said I did nothing wrong? I'm about to call my lawyer and sue them for harrassment and deprivation of character, is any of this possible?![]()
