Default Carrying A Pair Of Scissors

    I was recently caught shoplifting.
When I was searched I had a small pair of craft / art scissors in my shorts.
Yes, I used them to open what I took, but I didn't purposely bring them along for that purpose.
Can this be used as a weapon to make my theft misdemeanor a worse crime?

Default Re: Carrying A Pair Of Scissors

It's more likely that, consistent with the laws of some states, the scissors would be deemed evidence of criminal intent upon entering the store, or as "burglary tools", triggering a more serious theft or commercial burglary charge.
