A collection agency(s) has entered two medical accounts in my credit history. The accounts were entered under three different business names with each major credit bureau. Was this done to make it seem like 6 different accounts? My f1c0 score dropped from 825 to 625 after this happened. I disputed online with each company. One emailed back in one day that they contacted the CA who put the info in my report and they "verified the accuracy, which meets requirements of the FCRA" simply based on the CA saying it is true. The other two sent emails saying it will get investigated and may take up to 30-45 days.
I was at the hospital but I paid the amount in full at the time. A month later the hospital made an inquiry into my credit report (I learned this later), saw that I had almost perfect credit with NO BLEMISHES EVER, and sent out another bill. I wrote informing that I do not owe the money providing proof of contracted rate and paid amount, as well as requesting the reasoning for the new charges. I then received a letter stating if I did not pay the amount, "we will be forced to report this debt to the major credit bureaus which may ruin your excellent credit history." (Actually it was this statment that made me wonder whether these out of the blue additional charges is a new method to extort money from people who may be able to pay and who obviously have strong character to always pay debts. Then I thought, how would they know my credit history and when I pulled my report I saw that they had checked it before sending out a bill for additional charges.)
FYI, I have had a credit history for going on 20 years, never made a late payment, always paid all bills in full (including the hospital bills which were paid in full for the agreed upon rate) and have never had a f1c0 score below 800, until this. Before that, I purchased everything with cash.
What can I do about this? What about entering the debt as 2 accounts under three names with each of the bureaus?
