I live in virginia and was renting a room in a boarding house. I was called by my mom and told my room was broken into. I then checked out my room and saw that ALL my good stuff was missing and everything else was put in 2 bags in my closet. Also there was a table in there that wasn't mines. I called the police and he said there was no sign of forced entry. Also I told him that one of my neighbors said that my landlords people were in my room putting my stuff in a bag. The officer said that they shouldn't have gone in there without my permission. The landlord said she didn't know anything about it and said he didn't know if I was coming back or not. She knows how to get in contact with me because did it before.
I took picture showing the table that wasn't mines, with a water bottle that wasn't mines and a cigarette butt that wasn't mines (I don't smoke), plus there was a light bulb in the celling fan when I never cut it on because a screw is missing and it shakes.
I just need to know what recourse I have. I was told by a police detective that I wouldn't have a case because no one actually saw anyone take my stuff out of the room but I do have a witness that said the landlords men were in my room and the police office saw that the door and the lock were not broken.
Thank You
