Default Hearing After Comp Case Was Closed And Dismissed

I gave up my workers' comp claim, closed, and dismissed my case with my attorney because I decided to live in another country where I can deal with my illness myself where it is cheaper since I was denied benefits.
After several months, I received a notice of hearing for status conference here in California. What could this be? I thought I have closed the case.

Perhaps your lawyer simply stopped prosecuting your case but didn't actually file for a dismissal with the court where matters were pending. Also, sometimes courts make mistakes - I once received a notice for a case where I had filed a stipulation for dismissal, because the court didn't enter the dismissal into its computerized record-keeping system.

You may be able to find out for certain by asking your former lawyer or inquiring with the court.
