Myself and two friends went into a Fred Meyer store in wWashington state and decided to take two computer games. We took them to the garden center and slipped them through the fence to my friend who put them in a bag of things she paid for earlier. Immediatly after, a guy went through the emergency exit and followed my friend to my car. Me and my other friend were still in the garden center and a large man that was clearly a plain clothed security person was talking on a phone and was saying things like "they slipped dvd's to a friend outside," and "the VR's on their way." I tried to ask him a question but he snapped at me and said " do I look like I'm talking to you?" and told me to go.
We left the garden center and bought a few things while the guy followed us for bit through the store. When we got out to the car, the large man and the man thaqt left through the emergency exit where waiting next to my car with my friend.
They never talked to her but were on the phone. She had put her bags into the car and they kept trying to look at what was in my car. I assumed that they were not allowed to try and get into my car. They never spoke to us after that, even after I asked if we were free to go.
We ended up leaving the parking lot while they workers just stayed next to whee I parked. I heared them say the make and model of my car but I am pretty sure they got my license plate aswell. We tossed the things we stole out of the car once we were out of their sight and left town.
So what I need to know is whether they can do anything about what we did. We dont have the items anymore and we dont live in the same county as the Fred Meyer we got caught in. There were no cameras in the garden center and I dont think that anyone actually saw us slipping the stuff out. So if we didn't get held there, we never saw cops, and they didn't take down any of my personal information other than my car, will anything happen legally?
None of them had paper or anything to write stuff down and I don't know whether or not they relayed the information over the phone.
Any help would be great since I couldn't find any other posts that fit this sort of scenario.
