Default Carrying a Fixed Knife in California

I recently bought the ASEK fixed knife Air Force survival blade from Ontario, and I am NOT military.

I wish to know if it is legal to carry in SoCal, both concealed and open, via a leg sheath. The blade is 4 1/2 inches long from the actual blade, and more like 5 from the finger guards.

It's worn in a hard plastic and cordua leg sheath.

Any information is extremely helpful, and I have gotten mixed views on fixed carry in CA.

Well apart from Renaissance faires which allow you to carry a sword as long as it's peace-tied(a cord or band around the sword to prevent it from falling out) i don't know of any other uses for a sword or knife, except as a bottle opener, which would fall under improper use of a bladed weapon.

And don't they recommend you oil the blade if you keep it in a sheath?

There are restrictions on the length of knives which can be carried on school grounds (Penal Code § 626.10), and in state or local buildings or meetings open to the public (Penal Code § 171b), and possibly other situational laws, in addition to local ordinances which may be significantly more restrictive than state law.
