Default Hidden Cameras In A Shared Apartment In California

I live with a roommate who I am paranoid about. I say paranoid because I have absolutely no evidence of her wrong doing. I have lost several items from my room and my bathroom (they are not connected) so I put a lock on my room and bathroom. But I still think my stuff are disappearing. I might be wrong, and just have taken items to my car and somehow lost them. I sometimes forget to lock my bathroom door.

    So I have two questions:

    1) Would it be illegal for me to put a hidden camera in my own locked room and bathroom, just to make sure?

    2) Would it be illegal for me to put a hidden camera in the living room, facing only the door entry to my own room & bathroom (this way I just need 1 camera).

I think it would be fine to put a hidden camera in my own room , locked. But what I get worried about is hidden camera in bathroom because I sometimes forget to lock the bathroom door. Although we have specifically agreed that this would be MY bathroom... There is a chance she might just use it in a hurry (it is close to apartment exit). Then, would it be considered voyering (?) I am a female same as roommate's age, but I never know if she might say I was a perv and go nuts for having hidden cam in my own rooms.

I will be moving out of here in 2 months. My keys for doors are missing (yes, i admit i lose things quite often and she might not be responsible). Thanks

    I forgot to mention these

    1) Only two people live at our apartment. Me and my roommate.

    2) We have two separate bedrooms/bathrooms. Each verbally agreed to use only their rooms, and not to go in without permission.

    3) Living room is shared space

    4) She is mostly at home (no job), I am mostly at work.

You should be okay putting a camera in YOUR space, but the shared space might present a problem.

I would be cautious about a bathroom, particularly if you are not absolutely the only one who uses it.
