Michigan emancipation law

:cry: my parents got divorced about 6 months ago and i cant stand all the fighting that goes on all day long at my house.. it drives me crazy so i talked to my boyfriend hes 20 and lives in toledo ohio.. he brought up getting emancipated but im kinda iffy about it.. i wanna know what goes on and all that.. im 16 gonna be 17 in october.. is there any requirements for getting emancipated.. if any one can help itd be great!! thanks

To be emancipated in Michigan, absent a circumstance which automatically results in emancipation (such as marriage or active duty service in the armed forces), you would have to convince a court you are able to support yourself, and are capable of managing your financial and social affairs. Michigan's emancipation statutes are available online.
