    Default Shoplifter in Illinois

i was recently charged with two counts of shoplifting and it resulted in a class a misterminer i was arrested and bailed myself and brother out of jail.both of the items combined were less than $100 total but they were from two seperate stores .and we didnt have anything to open the items with except out hands. and this is the first time anything like this has ever happened to me or my bro we have never even got a speeding ticket or warning before. so my question is since i am pleeding guilty what do you think the chances of me getting a sentance that involves no jail time. thankyou for your thoughts also i am 18 years of age and so is my bro.

if you have no record and plead guility and are honest about how sorry you are and it will never happen again.. I say (but just my thoughts) is NO WAY you will get jail time

Ask your Attorney about diversion programs and if you qualify first offenders can avoid criminal record in this manner

Diversion programs are not universally available, and are often limited to particular classes of offender (e.g., young adults). Still, if one is available and you are eligible, it should be explored.

ok i like the sound of a diversion program but what is it exactly like what happens is it like rehab where you cant leave and stuff or is it on the weekends all i found out was that if i do get entered into one then there is no court case.

Diversion acts like a guilty verdict (no jail) it carries fines, community service and probation as a norm. Once completed no conviction appear son your record. Discuss this and if you qualify with your Attorney
