Default Customer Believes An Employee Stole Her Purse

I got a problem.... I am a Sub contractor for a home improvment company, An elderly lady said my helper took her purse. We were installing a storm door. We opened the main door to install the "closer" and "sweep plate", She was standing there watching! She then went inside to check on her Alzheimer stricken husband, we closed the door and completed our work. She then came back out and inspected the work, and signed the contract. We loaded our tools and trash in the truck and left . 5-6 hours later she called Lowes and asked for MY number. They called me and I called her, She proceeded to tell me she could not find her purse and didn’t want to say anything to Lowes to cause trouble for me, and asked me to ask my helper. I did and he never seen it (nor did I) Now she's trying to say he took it! I know better, but I think she really thinks he did.... Now she said the night before she gave her teen granddaughter some money and sat it in the chair, never even looked for it till the next evening (5-6 hours after we left). Now I'm worried Lowes is going to get rid of me, for something I know didn’t happen. But I believe she honestly thinks he took it. What am I to do????

So I should just wait for the police to show up? Then If Lowes quits using me go on my way and just take it even though its a Lie/Mistake?

PS. I know for a fact he did not take it.

If Lowes fires you and Police are contacted then the evidence will suppot your side if thats the case (innocence) my comment was for previous post. Why would you make a Police report when your (your employee) is one being accused?

My local Lowes supports me; they know my employee and me very well. I'm worried about corporate Lowes, They may tell them to just quit using me, and they have to do what they are told. I need the business from Lowes; I do not sub for anyone else or do any other work. That’s my lively hood, and now its threatened and I want to protect it. I’m hoping she will find it and everything will just blow over but I haven’t heard anything since the 7th, I spoke with the woman then and she asked for his name to file a police report and I told her I would check with Lowes and see if I could give it to her “legally”. They (local Lowes) told me they would call her. Last I heard was her grandson,(Who happened to be a fired former Lowes employee) called that afternoon and was talking trash and told them they were just trying to protect their installers. They said yes we are, they have been with us since 99 without a single problem. She had to have misplaced it. And that was the last I heard. I spoke with another manager from a different store and they had an installer’s employee steal something (he did it) and they fired the installer, even though he done nothing wrong. That’s the part that scares me.
