    Default My Parents Don't Want Me

    Hear is my problem a while ago in like november i got cought smoking weed at school and went to court they gave me probation and drug counseling becouse i was 16 at the time and they put me into a divertion program well i got kicked out of that and just got kicked out of my counsling becouse im still smoking weed here is where the emancipation thing comes in my parents dont like me smoking weed and they have ben saying that they are going to emancipate me if i dont stop smoking weed ........ i have stoped smoking weed but i got put into more intencive councling but with the first councling drained out insurence money and my parents dont no what to do or how they are going to pay for more intincive councling and i am court orderd to complete a tretment program any way i will turn 17 on june 8th ( tomorrow ) i think that is would be easer on my parents if they just emancipated me so i can get a job and stuff and just do everything on my own and my friends have told me that u cant get emancipated in Ohio so are my parents so my question is that can i emancipate my self for my parents sake or can they just do it there selves and just say get ur stuff and get out of my house eather way it would be better for them ........ but can that happen?

    There is no emancipation statute in Ohio. You cannot emancipate yourself and your parents cannot emancipate you.

    Even if there were a statute, the likelihood that a kid who has been kicked out of a diversion program and counseling would qualify to be emancipated is exactly zero. Nor can a kid without a job who has no means of supporting himself be emancipated.

    Emancipation is not going to happen.

    Ohio recognizes emancipation only in the event of marriage or active duty military service, and you would revert to parental custody if either ended before you turned 18.
